6'4'' Adaptive Prone Surfboard

This Prone board that was crafted in collaboration with Arno surfboards blends art and function; designed for riding on your belly, not just standing or kneeling. One standout feature: the fin boxes are raised, making turns smoother even without a back foot pivot. Inspired by my work as an Adaptive surf instructor, this is a celebration of inclusivity and creativity on the water.

The design was an extension from my dissertation topic of exploring the significance of waves within Graphic Design. I used objects that had been washed ashore by ocean waves with Indian ink to create marks in the early development stage of the design. These marks were then scanned onto Adobe Illustrator along with a splash of colour, which then led to the final design. This surfboard design highlighted a full circle moment where objects that had been washed ashore by waves then led to creating designs onto equipment designed to surf them; revealing how impactful waves can be within Graphic Design.
